Now here is a most unusual find and we are still hoping to get further information to provide you with a better description.
However, for the moment what we can tell you is this. This is a headless, neck through body design made (we think) from a mahogany wood. A full 24 3/4 inch scale with 22 frets, Gotoh tuners, twin humbuckers with 3 way switching and a Tune-o-Matic style adjustable bridge.
The guitar features a built-in leg rest (which can double as a carry handle) and has a rosewood fingerboard.
But what is it?
Well, it looks very much like a prototype or perhaps a special project guitar but it has very clearly been built by a professional. This is confirmed by numerous details such as the brass combined nut/string holder and clever leg rest which doubles as a carry handle.
There are several one-off pieces but done to perfection and this is not the product of someone's garden shed. Similarly the 3 ply scratch plates and control covers are perfect and well recessed.
The guitar weighs 5 lbs (2.3 kg) and comes complete with a custom made heavy duty carry case which adds another 14 lbs! It is a great fit in a Warwick Deluxe headless gig-bag if you want something a little lighter.
Rumoured to have been owned by the great Gordon Giltrap at one time we think this guitar is about 20 years old now and has been in the possession of its current owner for about 15 years now.
Considering its age you have to say that it is in a very good condition with wear and tear commensurate with its age but obviously well looked after.
Nice action and a nice throaty tone and a guitar to turn heads and a great talking point too.
